Cleaning your Mountainbike in 10 steps. Cleaning your mountainbike after a dirty tour is one of the most important things you need to do if you want to enjoy it for a long time. Cleaning your bike isn’t as simple as it seems. Many people cleaning their bikes with high pressure water, but this is not what we recommend to do, because it will damage your material.
We will give you 10 steps to clean your bike and to keep it in the best conditions. You will notice that you can ride your bike without squeaking and creaking and that your material will last longer.
Step 1: Cleaning with water
Start with cleaning your bike with water (no high pressure). With the water you make sure most of the loose dirt will disappear.

Step 2: Soap
Lather your bike, so you can degrease your bike. The soap will also loosen the stubborn dirt.

Step 3: Tyres
Cleaning your tyres is also an important job. You can check your tyres on imperfections such as thorns. Check your wheel spokes, they make sure your tyres can handle the pressure.

Step 4: Chain
You can clean your chain with a chain cleaner, it will make sure your chain will run smoothly.

Step 5: Sprockets
Cleaning your sprockets is just as important as cleaning your chain. You can clean the sprockets with an old t-shirt, neutral detergent will do the rest.

Step 6: Derailleur
Use a toothbrush for cleaning your derailleur. With a toothbrush you can clean every little and important spot of the derailleur.

Step 7: Disc Brakes
Use brake cleaner for your disc brakes. If you hear your brakes you’ll know it is time to check your brakes. Don’t use oil for your brakes!

Step 8: dry you bike
If you cleaned your bike entirely, you must dry your bike before greasing it again. If you don’t dry your bike before greasing it, water will stay underneath the grease.
Step 9: Greasing
Grease you chain, sprockets, frame joints and derailleur. Please notice that you don’t grease your brakes and tyres.

Step 10: Waxing
The last step is waxing. Wax will protect your bike from dirt and it will make sure you can enjoy your bike for a long time.
With these 10 steps you should be able to clean your bike in only 30 minutes and you will notice it will be in top condition.
